youth Sport Uganda (ysu) is a National Sport for Development Ngo Based in Kampala, the Capital of Uganda. Founded in 2006 (reg No.nak/160) As a Community Based Organization, and Registered in 2010 As an Ngo (s. 5914/8982)

Ysu Offers Programs That Help Disadvantaged Young Boys and Girls Develop Confidence and Social Skills Through Sport. Since 2006, Ysu Has Helped Thousands of Children from Various Social, Economic and Religious Backgrounds Form Friendships and Learn About Important Issues Such As Hiv/aids.ysu’s Programs Promote Health and Education Messages in a Fun, Relaxed Setting. Also, Through Its Initiatives, Youth Sport Uganda Has Been Able to Promote Inclusion for Girls in Sport to Help Them Stay in School and Avoid Things Like Teen Pregnancy

Objectives of Ysu
• To Increase Accessibility To, and Promote Participation In, Structured and Organised Sport
• To Discover and Nurture Sporting Talent in Young People
• To Promote and Instill the Core Values of Sport
• To Reduce the Barriers of Entry for Young People to Play Sport
• To Produce Educated Sports Persons and Dispel the Widely Held View in Uganda That a Person Must Choose Between an Education or Sports.

Programs Being Implemented
Sport for Life
Sport for Life is a Social Programme Implemented by Ysu, Under This Programme We Promote Sports in the Rural District of Uganda. Our Aim is to Use Sport As a Social Development Tool for the Children. Through Regular Practice the Kids Get All the Sport Benefits in Their Lives. Benefits Like: Teamwork, a Healthy Life, Empathy, Emotional Intelligence, Training Sacrifices.

Leadership Trainings
Developing a Sustainably Healthy Community is to Train New Leaders Who Will Teach the Next Generation. in This Program Special Emphasis is Also Placed on Female Leaders and Coaches Who Can Improve the Standards of All Women in the Community.

Youth Sport Uganda Runs Many Programs Specifically for Girls with an Aim to Get Them More Active and Engaged. Like All Ysu Programs, Girlsport is More Than Just Sport, It is Also Education, Empowerment and Teamwork. Ensuring That Girls Experience Needed Basic Education is a Priority for Youth Sport Uganda, and Through Girlsport, Education is Given in a Non-formal, Relaxed Setting. Girls in Uganda Do Not Have the Same Opportunities for Social Interaction That Boys Have, and Girlsport Allows Girls to Make Friends and See Their Own Potential to Pursue Greater Equality.

Equipment Distribution
This Program Aims at Removing Financial Barriers for Kids to Play Competitive Sport. Ysu Receives New and Old Sports Equipments from Friends and Well-wishers, then Distributes Them Freely to the Kids Who Want to Play Sport but Cannot Afford.

Sponsorship Program
This Programme is Given to Those Kids Who Can’t Afford, or with Problems in Getting to School. Under This Programme Ysu Raises Funds from Well Wishers Both Abroad and Locally Which Are Used to Meet Some of the Education Costs for Youth and Priority is Given to Those Actively Involved in Community Work. Sponsorship is Divided into Three Categories I.e. Primary, High School and University Categories. Kids to Be Sponsored Are Supposed to Be Vulnerable I.e. Orphaned/poor. They Must Have Interest in School, They Must Be Active in Ysu Activities, They Should Provide School Progress Reports and Must Be Able to Communicate Anything to the Secretariat.
