ACRO Ghana (Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders, Ghana ) is a registered independent NGO head quartered in the farming community of Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Other groups are found in Kukuo near Tamale in the Northern Region, Domenase, Gomoa District in the Central Region and also Madina in the Greater Accra Region It was established in 2004 and acquired certificate of operation as a social institution in 2005.

ACRO Ghana’s vision is a safer society where everyone belongs, human rights respected and preventing crime means tackling social exclusion and re-integrating those who offend.

The issue of whether to introduce alternatives to imprisonment and that of the role of the judiciary in the execution of criminal sentences are our focus as imprisonment has failed to effect social rehabilitation. Be that as it may, rising crime – especially juvenile delinquency -, overpopulated prisons and rising recidivism (re-offences) are sufficient justification for us to look into non custodial alternatives especially in our part of the world.

ACRO Ghana is embedded with social inclusion activities namely, sports/football projects that address these issues in our society today to promote peace, gender equity, child literacy development, HIV/Aids awareness and poverty reduction.
